V-GREEN Targets 50,000 VinFast EV Charging Points in Indonesia

VinFast is increasingly serious about strengthening its presence in Indonesia. After launching a line of electric vehicles such as the VF3, VF5, VF e34, VF6, and VF7, the Vietnamese brand is now laying the foundation for its infrastructure through its electric vehicle charging provider, V-GREEN.

Unveiled during the GIIAS 2025 session, V-GREEN plans to build 50,000 charging stations across Indonesia, exclusively for VinFast vehicles—including the Green XM electric taxi fleet, also under the VinGroup holding.

V-GREEN CEO, Mai Truong Giang, explained that the company is part of the parent group VinGroup, founded by Vietnamese entrepreneur Pham Nhat Vuong and overseeing the VinFast automotive brand. "V-GREEN is a new company, but in two years we have built 150,000 charging stations in 63 provinces and cities in Vietnam," he said.

In Indonesia, V-GREEN began operations in December 2024. In a short time, they have built 3,000 charging points, and 1,000 charging stations are already operational in major cities and other regions, such as Medan, Makassar, Batam, and areas outside Java and Bali. "Currently, most electric charging stations are located in major cities, such as Jakarta, Bandung, Medan, Surabaya, and Bali. This year, we plan to build 50,000 charging stations in Indonesia, and for the time being, these charging stations will only be for VinFast cars. This includes the Green XM taxi company, which is part of the VinFast group," explained Edison, Mai Truong Giang's nickname.

The ambitious plan is also divided into two segments: 20,000 units will be home charging stations, while the remaining 30,000 units will be public charging stations. All points will be strategically placed in easily accessible locations, often within walking distance. According to Edison, this strategy is key to addressing consumer concerns about limited charging infrastructure, which has been a barrier to EV adoption. "Once charging stations are deployed, VinFast consumers will feel secure and won't have to worry about charging, thereby minimizing range anxiety, which is still very strong at the moment."

Unlike most charging facilities that still use low current, V-GREEN focuses on providing fast charging based on DC (Direct current). Edison added, "So you won't have to wait for hours. It only takes 30 to 40 minutes to charge." To assist users, the V-GREEN app is available, equipped with a real-time map of charging points. Consumers can view the location, status, and estimated charging time without having to search manually. This project not only reflects VinFast's significant investment in Indonesia but also underscores their commitment to building a comprehensive EV ecosystem—from vehicles to infrastructure and lifestyle.
